The city will present the so-called Ostrava skyscraper to potential investors

Ostrava - Next Friday, Ostrava will make the so-called Ostrava Skyscraper building in Ostrčilova Street accessible to potential investors. The city is currently seeking an investor for the modernization of the tower building near the New Town Hall. The building is expected to be converted into a residential building according to the design of the renowned architectural studio AI Design by Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágner. A parking garage is also planned to be added nearby. The city intends to collaborate with a private investor on the project and wishes to retain ownership of some apartments and parking spaces after the building is completed. This was stated today by the spokesperson of the city hall, Gabriela Pokorná. Investors can submit their offers until the end of March.

"In addition to the actual tender documentation, potential investors will be able to familiarize themselves with the specifics of the building through the site visit and take these factors into account in their submitted offers," the spokesperson stated. She added that representatives from selected departments of the city hall will also be available to interested parties during the site visit.

The city aims to use a similar business model in collaboration with investors as it did for the construction of the Nové Lauby residential complex. It is expected that the investor will be responsible for the design phase of the entire project, the reconstruction of the building, and the construction of the parking garage. Subsequently, the city will purchase some apartments and parking spaces.

The 22-story tower has been empty since 2013 due to technical problems. It could newly provide up to 85 apartments. "The basis for the project design will be documents prepared by the AI Design studio, which will be binding for the main architectural elements of the building and parking garage design, characterizing the work and preserving the authorship of Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágner,” said Pokorná.
