Prosiměřice - The Ministry of Culture has declared the rectory in Prosiměřice, located in the Znojmo region, a cultural monument. The rectory is also associated with the work of the Catholic priest, publicist, and writer Václav Kosmák.
According to Aleš Homola from the Brno Heritage Institute, the rectory in Prosiměřice is a Renaissance or early Baroque building significantly modified in the late Baroque period and renovated in the 1920s. "The complex with the monumental parish building, along with the grounds and partially preserved structures of the parish court's economic background, represents an extraordinarily valuable urban and architectural monument, whose value is further emphasized by the above-standard preserved building and decorative details, the preserved dating of the granary, and the cultural-historical dimension given by the presence of the significant figure Václav Kosmák," Homola stated.
Kosmák was a prominent local historian and writer from Moravia in the 19th century. He connected the final stage of his work and life with Prosiměřice. From 1893, he served as the pastor there until his death in 1898.
In 1948, a monument was erected for Václav Kosmák in front of the rectory, which was attended by about 4,000 people during its ceremonial unveiling. The monument is now, along with other buildings, also a protected site.
The number of monuments in the Znojmo region has been increasing lately. Recently, the ministry declared the villa of Jewish industrialist Fritz Weinberger a monument. The rectory in Božice in the Znojmo region is also a protected site.
