Milk architects dedicated a sauna to the city of Liberec

The boys from the Liberec studio mjölk architekti fulfilled their promise, made at yesterday's Pecha Kucha Night, and built a public sauna overnight at the Liberec dam.
The sauna has stood since this morning on an unused, crumbling concrete platform that rises from the water surface of the Liberec dam, just a few dozen meters from the public promenade and beach. It is a space frequently used by the public, where there is particularly lively social activity during the summer months.
No permits were granted for the construction of the sauna, and the entire planned event was kept secret until the last moment. The dam's embankment and the affected concrete platform are owned by the city of Liberec, while the water surface of the reservoir is owned by Povodí Labe, s.p. None of the relevant authorities have yet commented on the newly built sauna. We eagerly await how they will respond to the whole matter.
The studio mjölk architekti is organizing a seaside celebration today at 5:00 PM, during which the sauna will be ceremonially handed over to the city of Liberec. From tomorrow, the sauna will be available to all residents of the city free of charge. The operation of the sauna will be ensured by a nearby café, where keys to the facility and the option to purchase firewood for the stove will be available. A rowing boat can be used to reach the sauna from the embarkation point on the embankment.
The studio mjölk architekti wants to draw attention to the unlimited possibilities of cultivating public spaces and public life, which requires just an idea, enthusiasm for a good cause, and a bit of money.
