Mladá Boleslav

YOUNG BOLESLAV - The city of Mladá Boleslav will build a parking garage near Jaselská Street by the end of this year. It has reassessed the original project and by reducing the capacity of the facility from 157 to 110 spaces, it will save money on adjustments to the surrounding streets and improve the traffic situation in the area. Robin Povšík, the deputy mayor, told ČTK this.

The planned construction of the parking garage near the labor office is related to the construction of a nearby university complex. However, it can also serve the needs of nearby high schools, banks, or theaters. While the councilors originally approved a significantly more expensive option, they changed their decision last week at the suggestion of the city leadership. According to Povšík, the original project would have incurred disproportionate costs both during construction and in its operation.
By saving costs on the parking garage, the city will also acquire the necessary eight million crowns for the related reconstruction of Tovačovská Street, where 27 parking spaces will also be created. It will also be able to build a roundabout at the currently confusing intersection of Havlíčkova and Jaselská Streets. According to Povšík, all these investments will require a total cost of around 51 million crowns, which are not included in the approved budget for the city for this year. Therefore, it will be necessary to secure them, for example, through a grant or loan.
The city must align the schedule of planned projects with the construction of the university complex being prepared by the Škoda Auto car manufacturer. According to Povšík, the car manufacturer should specify its plans in this location in March. He expects that by the end of the year, the city could manage all its projects there.
Recently, trial operation of the garage building in the northern part of the city has begun. The magistrate is also considering additional parking facilities near the city stadium and on Komenského Square.
