Moravská Třebová (Svitavy Region) - Moravská Třebová in the Svitavy Region will unveil a new tourist attraction from May. The city will ceremoniously present the Path from Renaissance to Baroque. The trail will connect historical sites with new architecture. With the support of European grants, the project cost 38 million crowns. This was stated by Miroslav Netolický, head of the city's development department. "The project will enhance the castle and its area, as well as Renaissance and Baroque monuments. It will improve relaxation opportunities for residents and visitors," said Netolický. The entire project, which the city will present to the public on May 11, includes the repair of paths and the restoration of two chapels on the Stations of the Cross. The Steps of the Dead for the Living, the lapidarium, the courtyard, and the castle gardens, including the coverage of the ramparts, have been restored. The arcades of the castle, the portal of the Steps of the Dead for the Living, tombstones, and lapidarium paintings and the Calvary sculpture have been restored. Next to the parking lot by the castle stands the concrete Gateway of Time by architect Markéta Veselá. The interior of the gate comprises a timeline of significant dates in the city's history. The sculpture consists of 11 concrete square pieces arranged in a line with an entrance in the middle. In the dark, the gate, which is more than five meters high, lights up. "Some people really like it, while others don’t understand it. Some call it a radiator that lights up at night. It doesn't leave people indifferent, and we are satisfied with that. The concrete ribs were complex to produce and difficult to install. The structure is quite delicate; we dealt with it for several months," said Netolický. The path from Baroque to Renaissance will be complemented by information kiosks, three electronic and five mechanical. The city is also preparing a 3D digital model of the trail, animated spots, and an educational publication. Construction work, restoration, and the installation of the gate have already been completed. The city hall has remaining work on promotion. "The total amount of the project will be approximately 38 million crowns, with a grant of up to 92.5 percent. The initial estimate, based on the project documentation, was 52 million crowns," noted Netolický. The project has also brought archaeological finds to the city. Archaeologists have discovered what the original layout of the burnt Boskovice Castle was like, on which the Renaissance castle was built. The sondes also uncovered smaller modern artifacts.
