Čelákovice - The reconstruction at the Čelákovice train station began in mid-January. The Railway Administration (SŽDC) will construct new underpasses and platforms and repair the adjacent railway track. The work will last until August of next year, with costs amounting to more than half a billion crowns.
SŽDC is financing the construction as part of the project to optimize the Lysá nad Labem - Prague-Vysočany line. Passengers must expect more difficult conditions at the station during the construction work, but the number of train connections will not be reduced. This was stated by the mayor of the town, Josef Pátek (ODS), to ČTK.
The construction will be carried out by the company Elektrizace železnic Praha, a.s., which SŽDC has already handed the construction site over to, and the company has begun work. They are currently demolishing old structures around the station, such as an unused wooden storage building. In its immediate vicinity, there is a parking lot for approximately 120 cars, which was closed on Friday due to the demolition and will reopen only on February 4. However, the second part of the parking lot for about 100 cars will remain closed throughout the reconstruction period. "Passengers will be able to use an alternative parking lot, which is located on Křižíkova Street near the Kovohutí industrial area. This parking lot is within walking distance of the Čelákovice-Jiřina train stop, which is about one kilometer from the Čelákovice station," said Pátek to ČTK.
After the reconstruction, there will be two new underpasses at the station. One of them will connect Mochovská and Kollárova Streets, and the other will link the station building with Kozovazská Street. "With the construction of the underpass, the main pedestrian routes in the town will change. People from parts of Čelákovice behind the railway will now walk to the center via this route," the mayor added.
One new platform and one platform area will be built, which will adjoin the station building. Both platforms will be 200 meters long, with the outer platform near the station building being used by trains heading to Prague, and the platform for trains coming from Prague. One platform, 50 meters long, will be at a separate dead-end track and will serve trains to Brandýs nad Labem.
The company will also replace a kilometer and a half of track and repair the sleepers beneath. New modern signaling devices will be installed, and noise barriers will be erected to reduce noise from the track. The extensive reconstruction aims to increase the capacity of the line and enable train connections between Prague and Čelákovice every 15 minutes.
During the optimization of the Lysá nad Labem - Prague Vysočany line, nearly 30 kilometers of track will be replaced, which will increase the speed of trains from the current 100 kilometers per hour to 140. SŽDC will also reconstruct four railway stations, two stops, build three new bridges and repair 24 others. Six new underpasses will be built, and more than fifteen kilometers of noise barriers will be constructed.
