Hradec Králové - The city of Hradec Králové has postponed the deadline for submitting bids for the six hundred million crown tender for the construction of a football stadium for the seventh time. Instead of the original date of August 15, the new deadline is now September 24. The postponement of the bid submission deadline was requested by candidates seeking clarification on the project documentation and subsequent minor adjustments to the documentation. The last two postponements were always by one working day. The Czech Press Agency learned this today from the profile of the contracting authority of the city of Hradec Králové.
The current tender is the third in line, and the city announced it on July 9. The city aims to select a company for construction by winter. The construction period is expected to be 18 months.
When supplementary questions arise, the contracting authority must extend the submission deadline for bids so that all potential candidates can respond to additional information concerning the tender documentation. The city hall has previously stated that for such a large and complex construction, it is common for construction firms to intensively inquire about the tender documentation or the contract for work.
So far, the city has issued 210 clarifications, changes, or supplements regarding the tender. For example, the most recent clarification concerned the use of so-called lightweight concrete for the bench structures in the stands.
The stadium, which has been in preparation for more than 15 years, is to be built on the site of an inadequate and partially demolished multipurpose stadium from 1960. The second league club FC Hradec Králové will have facilities at the stadium, which will need to play elsewhere during the construction period.
The estimated cost of the stadium is projected by the city to be 550 million crowns. The city council has set the maximum non-exceedable value for bids at 605 million crowns. Including VAT, the maximum construction price could be around 740 million. This will represent the largest investment by the city in recent years.
The stadium is expected to accommodate 10,000 spectators. The typical lighting with four so-called 'lollipops' will also be retained, although in a modernized version. In the autumn of 2017, the city had the western stand demolished, leaving only an earthen mound. Only the eastern stand structure from the current stadium will remain, serving as a facility for the needs of training pitches.
