Ostrava - Ostrava will sell a complex of properties adjacent to the historic building of the former slaughterhouse, which is currently undergoing complete renovation. The area, named Residence Stodolní, is located in the city center between Porážková, Stodolní, and Masná streets and has an area of 3,747 square meters. Bids can be submitted until November 30. The city's mayor, Tomáš Macura (ANO), informed journalists today. Based on an expert report, the city demands a minimum price of approximately 23.6 million crowns. However, it expects to receive higher bids given the fact that it is a lucrative area.
The complex of properties is located in a city heritage zone and was built between 1927 and 1928. The city is gradually reconstructing and completing the entire area in order to create a new functional neighborhood. The centerpiece will be a city gallery, which will move to the slaughterhouse building after modernization, but facilities for administration, services, and housing are also projected to emerge in the area. The completion of Masná Street is planned for 2022. The street will be supplemented with residential buildings. The first building was completed by the city already this June at the intersection with Janáčková Street.
"In the past, the city acquired some properties in the area with the intention of merging the ownership into one coherent area and thus gaining the ability to determine the future appearance and development of this location in the city center in relation to other projects being implemented here," said Macura. He recalled that the city previously considered using the buildings for the construction of a city multi-genre cultural center, but ultimately reassessed the plan. "It is therefore appropriate to find a new meaningful use for it with the involvement of private capital," said the mayor.
The city wants to sell the properties as a whole. The goal is their overall reconstruction and potential completion. "The buildings that are part of the offered areas are in poor technical condition and without any use. From ongoing discussions with investors regarding this area, we register interest, and by announcing the intention to sell, we open the opportunity for investors to submit official bids," said Deputy Mayor Zuzana Bajgarová (ANO). The city will assess not only the meaningfulness of the investor's proposal but also the synergy of their project with the surrounding area during the selection process. "We intentionally set the conditions of the call regarding the required functions flexibly so as not to limit investors in their thinking about the form and content of their proposals," Bajgarová added.
