Pardubice - The Pardubice Region today opened the concert parts of the House of Music after partial renovations. The facilities for visitors have been particularly updated, as well as Suk Hall. An inaugural concert for the Pardubice Music Spring festival was scheduled to take place there today, but organizers had to cancel it due to the spread of the new type of coronavirus.

In the social part of the House of Music, the ventilation system, electrical wiring, ceilings, and lighting have been renovated, and artistic chandeliers resembling crystals have been added. The exterior has a new façade made of triple glass, sliding glass doors, and part of the interior equipment has been updated. The café, public cloakroom, and ticket sales area have also undergone modifications.

In Suk Hall, air conditioning with silent operation has been installed, and the large hall now features a new stage with outlets in the floor for lighting the musicians' scores. The staircase has a railing to assist especially older viewers, and the lighting has been improved.

Renovations of the interiors of the House of Music will continue; two smaller halls are scheduled to be completed by the end of March, followed by classrooms for percussion instruments and restrooms. By the end of July, the entrance area and outdoor spaces will be reconstructed, and before the school year begins, the entire building will be insulated. The total costs will reach approximately 100 million crowns, and the region has obtained a grant for energy savings.

The House of Music building dates back to 1983. It was the headquarters of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) and also housed the youth organization and the monopoly trade union organization ROH. The design was created by architect Jan Třeštík.
