Brno - In Brno, the Rozmarýn parking house has reopened at the corner of Koliště and Kounicova streets after more than a year. The owner, Imos Development, demolished the upper floors last year and replaced them with four floors of offices while modifying the parking levels to allow easier access than before. Eva Děrdová, who is in charge of property rentals at the company, stated this to ČTK today.
The owner decided to rebuild because the parking house was never fully occupied, as many drivers with larger vehicles preferred not to use it; the spaces were cramped and parking was difficult. "The parking spaces are larger so that even large vehicles like SUVs won't have a problem," Děrdová said.
The building can now accommodate up to 208 cars, which is about half of the original capacity. The upper half of the building has four floors of offices spanning 3,700 square meters. "One floor is completely occupied, and another is partially occupied. We don't yet have half occupancy, but we expect there to be interest in the offices since they are in the center and parking is provided. The occupancy permit was only obtained in December," said Vilma Hošková, who is responsible for office rentals. The top floor houses the most luxurious offices, which feature a terrace with a view of Brno. "We are gradually adapting the spaces to our clients' wishes," Hošková said.
Rozmarýn was the first parking house in the center of Brno, starting operations in 2005. Since then, additional parking houses with hundreds of spaces have been established around the Brno city center, and underground garages are being built on Besední Street beneath the future Janáček Cultural Center. Although politicians spoke of restricting parking on the streets when Rozmarýn opened, it is still possible to park for free in the vicinity of the historic center.
