Polička - Polička plans to prepare land for further extensive construction of family and apartment houses. According to the city's strategic development plan for the period 2021 to 2027, construction could take place in several locations. Since 2002, the city hall has purchased, equipped with utilities, and sold approximately 200 plots. It is trying to retain particularly young people in the city who have gone to university, said Mayor Jaroslav Martinů (ODS) to ČTK.

"The zoning plan is prepared for this, and I consider it to be good. There are about four or five locations, so we can negotiate on all sides with owners about the price and their willingness to sell the land," Martinů stated.

According to the strategic plan, the area Mánesova - Wolkerova should serve for the construction of family houses, where a zoning study was already prepared in 2016. There would be space for 35 family houses and 70 to 90 apartments in apartment buildings. The zoning study for the Hegerova location dates back to 2018, which includes two phases of construction of apartment buildings with 255 apartments, civic amenities, communications, parking lots, and greenery on an area of approximately 7.7 hectares. The city will also examine the possibility of using plots in the Na rybníce area or in the southeastern and eastern outskirts towards Pomezí for apartment construction. However, the prices of the plots are gradually increasing significantly, and with the built utilities, they would have to be sold to builders for about 2000 crowns per square meter, which is, according to Martinů, unsustainable.

Polička also wants to buy from the Pardubice region the building of an unused children's home. It wants to convert it into an apartment building.

The city hall is also negotiating the purchase of a large complex of the KOH-I-NOOR Ponas company in Vrchlického Street, which has moved its production to another part of the city. The city commissioned a study to determine what apartment potential the site would have and what costs it would require. Polička must decide on the purchase by the end of March.

In previous years, for example, the city purchased and supplied utilities to 84 plots in the Bezručova area. The city hall built two apartment buildings on them with a total of 48 apartments, while the others were sold for the construction of family houses.
