Prague - Prague 5 will commission a study on the transformation of the Vltava waterfront in the municipal district. The study will be prepared for the city hall by Atelier 8000, and the municipal district will pay 490,000 crowns for it. Helena Šmídová, spokesperson for Prague 5, informed ČTK today. In addition to the development of the waterfront, the study will also map its current state.

"Through this study, we want to enhance the left bank of the Vltava, change the approach to its use, regenerate the entire space, and most importantly, come up with a solution that maximally opens the bank for cultural, social, and recreational enjoyment," stated Mayor Radek Klíma (TOP 09).

The document will include a verifiable urban-architectural study, detailed analyses, and an evaluation of the existing state. Among other things, it will be based on a study of the Vltava banks that was commissioned a few years ago by the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR).

In the past, the city hall installed a sandy beach with a bar several times on the Smíchov waterfront during the summer. There have also been several one-time events held here, such as a festival of food trucks this past March. However, the city hall has yet to create a plan for the permanent use of the waterfront. Additionally, part of it is used as a parking lot.
