Příbram - Příbram wants to build a parking garage near the bus station, which would serve drivers continuing their journey by public transport. The budget is up to 50 million crowns, with the majority of costs to be covered by a grant from the State Transportation Infrastructure Fund, said Deputy Mayor Václav Švenda (TOP 09) to journalists today.
"The goal is also to free up more spaces in the center where people leave their cars and depart, for example, from Jiráskovy sady to Prague. This would be a central place where they could park,” Švenda stated.
The building is to be located opposite the financial administration, approximately on half of the current parking lot area. The capacity of the entire space will thus increase from the current 66 car spaces to at least two hundred places. "It is not yet fully finalized; there is also a discussion about how many floors the parking garage should have,” said councilor Václav Dvořák (ANO).
The town hall has a completed study, but according to Dvořák, there is little time to submit the application. "If it can be done on time, the project could be this summer, and we could start processing the territorial and building permits, and construction could begin in the spring of next year,” the councilor anticipates. According to him, the building could start serving motorists as early as 2018.
The previous administration of Příbram planned to build a parking garage on land near the hospital. The current town hall has abandoned this plan. The issue of a lack of parking spaces is also being addressed by other towns in Central Bohemia. Parking garages have previously been built, for example, in Mladá Boleslav, Slaný in Kladno, or Beroun. A similar building is also planned in Benešov.
