Prague – The Prague 8 city hall will commission a study for the development of the Invalidovna housing estate. The document will propose its development and will include, among other things, analyses of transportation, the identification of the area's values and its issues, as well as mapping of greenery and property rights relations. The goal is to preserve the genius loci of the housing estate and ensure sufficient public facilities. This was decided today by the municipal representatives.
The city hall will collaborate with local residents on the study, which will be completed by the end of this October. The estate is a so-called development area and construction is planned there. The Invalidovna estate is located on the eastern edge of Karlín and was established between 1959 and 1967.
According to the document approved by the representatives, the study will include regulatory elements that define the current urban and architectural values of the estate and its surroundings. It will also ensure an appropriate urban solution for the Čechie area, where construction is planned.
The document will be divided into three parts. The first will be analytical, describing the current state and defining the problems of the area. The second will be a graphic section with photographs and maps. This will also include property rights relations and technical infrastructure. The third will be the so-called proposal section, outlining the next steps and development of the housing estate.
The representatives addressed the fate of the estate in a February meeting, where they unanimously decided to create a working group. Its members include not only representatives from all parties but also local residents. The outcome of the discussions is today’s decision of the representatives to create a development study.
Several development projects exist for the extensive Invalidovna area. Construction is proposed for part of the Čechie Karlín complex, and investors plan to build houses along the railway track in Sluncová, while the National Theatre also intends to establish workshops here.
