Rakovník - Rakovník has once again announced a public contract for the repair of the swimming pool. This decision was made by the city councilors, reported today by the city hall spokesperson Alida Štulajterová. The original tender had to be canceled due to formal requirements that were not met by the winning company.

"In the newly announced public contract, we took advantage of the currently applicable law and set the maximum bid price for both phases of the reconstruction at 178.5 million CZK," said Mayor Pavel Jenšovský (ČSSD). The tender documentation also contains answers to all questions from interested parties during the original competition. "With this step, we are trying to avoid extending the deadline for the completion of the public contract," added Deputy Mayor Miroslav Samaš (ANO).

The original contract was announced last July and canceled this March. The city hall had to wait to see if participants would appeal to the Office for Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) before the statutory deadlines expired. This did not happen, and the tender could now be announced again. The reconstruction, during which the pool is to be transformed into a smaller aquapark, will take at least 1.5 years, according to Štulajterová.

The pool has been closed since last August due to poor technical condition. The complete modernization was supposed to start this February and finish next year. The city leadership now expects that work will begin this year, but if an appeal is made to the ÚOHS, there would have been a significantly greater delay. The winter months are not an obstacle for the work; for example, demolition will be possible.

For summer swimming, residents of Rakovník will not be able to use the outdoor pool adjacent to the indoor one, as they are connected to the same currently shut-down technology. The city's Tyrš Swimming Pool is still operational, into which the city hall will invest several million crowns this year.

The city will partially finance the repair of the indoor pool from surpluses from past years, partially from this year's budget, and partially from a loan that it will take out for this purpose.
