Vsetín - The reconstruction of the Vsetín train station should begin in 2020. The investment will require about two billion crowns. The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) wants to have the building permit completed next year and select a construction company, said Miroslav Bocák, director of the Eastern Construction Administration of SŽDC, to ČTK today.
The documentation for the zoning decision is already completed. "The Central Commission of the Ministry of Transport approved the preparation of further stages of the documentation and subsequent implementation," Bocák stated.
The construction includes a new dispatch building with a lobby, ticket offices, and restroom facilities. The platforms will be renovated and made accessible. "We are also counting on the construction of a parking garage with 300 parking spaces," Bocák noted.
The renovation of the station is linked to the construction of a commercial gallery in the station's forecourt, built by Valatrans. The town hall has joined the project and is constructing a portion of the underground parking. Up to 160 parking spaces will be available in the parking lot, about a third of which is built and financed by the city. The remaining will be built by Valatrans. The operation of the parking lots will be shared, having one entrance and exit. An underpass will connect the train station with the area in front of the station and the Rokytnice area to the underground parking.
SŽDC is also preparing the modernization and electrification of the track from Otrokovice to Vizovice in the Zlín region. There are also plans for the reconstruction of the station in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and Bystřice pod Hostýnem. For example, the reconstruction of the dispatch building in Napajedla in Zlín and the modernization of the building in Hulín in the Kroměříž region are also planned.
