Vsetín – Vsetín is preparing for the reconstruction of the train station, which should begin in the autumn, as announced by the Railway Administration. The city, along with other entities, will follow up on the reconstruction with investments in the area in front of and behind the station, spokesperson for the municipality Jana Raszková informed CTK in a press release today.
"The city, together with the Railway Administration, the Directorate of Roads of the Zlin Region, and other interested organizations, is primarily addressing the relocation of the bus station, the straightening of Nádražní Street, and the construction of a roundabout near the polyclinic in the area in front of the station. Working meetings are held every week, and currently, they coordinate phases and interconnections of construction works in relation to the reconstruction of the train station itself," said Vsetín Mayor Jiří Růžička (KDU-ČSL).
The reconstruction of the train station is set to begin this September and is expected to be completed in 2024. The current dispatch building will be demolished and replaced by a transport terminal that will connect rail transport with bus and road transport. The bus station will be moved to the immediate vicinity of the transport terminal, and there will also be a five-story parking garage with a capacity of 300 spaces. The entrance and exit will lead via a new road that will connect to Nádražní Street at the site of the new roundabout by the polyclinic.
There are also plans for transforming the area behind the station, which is to be connected to the transport terminal, platforms, and the underground parking lot in the Smetana shopping gallery via a tunnel under the railway tracks. The city is preparing the construction of a parking lot in the area of the former Delta sawmill. A private investor is planning residential and commercial development in its vicinity.
"The area of the former Delta will be connected to the road I/69, i.e., the exit road to Zlín, via a new road and a new bridge that will be built by the Railway Administration. This will reduce the traffic burden on Na Dolansku Street. Near the multifunctional building Kotovo, this new road will connect to road I/69 through a roundabout. This is part of a project called Rampa Mostecká, the investor of which is the Directorate of Roads and Highways of the Czech Republic," said Růžička.
The city is preparing its investment plans in connection with the reconstruction of the station. "Over 18 million crowns have been allocated for land acquisitions around the station, and another 12 million for the preparation of project documentation for the reconstruction of the area around the station," Růžička stated.
