Moravská Třebová - Moravská Třebová in the Svitavy region has closed the Pastýřka lookout tower until further notice. The wooden elements are in poor condition. The city must repair them, the town hall stated in a press release.
"During a regular inspection, a deterioration in the technical condition of the wooden elements was found. In collaboration with a structural engineer, we are assessing the severity of the faults. We will try to make the lookout tower accessible as soon as possible," said Gabriela Horčíková, managing director of Technical Services of Moravská Třebová.
The lookout tower was built in 2009 and stands at an elevation of 516 meters above sea level in the area Na Pastvisku. The wooden tower features a steel spiral staircase and reinforced concrete foundations, designed by native Jan Škoda from Moravská Třebová. It stands on the site of the original historic lookout, which was named after Prince John of Liechtenstein.
The Pastýřka lookout tower is 27 meters tall and offers visitors views of the Orlické Mountains, Buková Hora, Jeseníky, the massif of Králický Sněžník, and the Zábřežská Highlands in good visibility conditions.
