Slaný – The representatives of Slaný approved the construction of a sports hall in the Slaný Sever area at tonight's meeting. According to the mayor Martin Hrabánek (ODS), it could be completed as early as the fall of next year, but this is just an estimate. It will also depend, among other things, on the progress of the tender and other factors. A study has now been prepared, into which comments have been incorporated in recent weeks. The city will also attempt to obtain a grant for the investment.

The existing municipal sports hall, Bios, is very busy, does not meet the parameters for hosting higher competitions, and lacks facilities for spectators. According to the mayor, it will continue to serve recreational athletes and schools. There is also a hall in the city used by the basketball club.

Initially, the city leadership estimated the investment for the new hall to be around 60 million crowns, but at today’s meeting, this allocated amount was increased by approximately ten million. The reason is the possibility of applying for a grant for energy-efficient buildings, which also means an increase in construction costs but a reduction in operational expenses.

The new hall will be used by futsal players, floorball players, as well as basketball and volleyball players during tournaments and other larger events. It will also serve the students of Slaný's 1st elementary school. The stands are expected to accommodate 250 seated spectators, and up to 70 more fans can stand in the hall. There should be a sports bar for the public on the ground floor of the hall.
