Slaný – The leadership of Slaný selected a contractor for the sports hall on Monday, which is to be completed in the spring of 2023. The construction, costing more than 100 million crowns, will start as soon as the weather permits, likely at the turn of January and February, said Markéta Růtová, spokesperson for the Slaný city hall, to ČTK today.
The city wants to cover part of the construction costs with grants, having submitted an application to the National Sports Agency, from which it could receive up to 40 million crowns. An application for a grant from the Operational Program for the Environment has also been submitted, which could bring about 25 million crowns. "We do not yet have approval for either grant and are still waiting for the results of the grant procedure," said city development manager Magdaléna Stýblová.
In preparing the project, the city leadership had a small gym added to the building, designed for aerobics, dance, or fitness. "The city has long supported sports and interest organizations in the form of grants and subsidies from its budget. Given the COVID period, we consider motivating people to engage in sports to be important," added the mayor of Slaný, Martin Hrabánek (ODS).
The new hall will serve floorball players, futsal players, basketball players, volleyball players, handball players, table football players, and others, and its dimensions will meet the necessary official parameters. Its operation should be energy-efficient.
