Grand Opening of the Sports and Cultural Center in Líbeznice
We invite you to the grand opening of the new sports and cultural center in Líbeznice, which will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 10 AM.
An investment of nearly 37 million crowns will provide the municipality with necessary space for physical education for students at the school, as well as facilities for other activities - from social evenings and balls to a permanent shelter for football players, scouts, and table tennis players.
The entire project was made possible for the municipality thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic specifically for expanding the capacity of elementary schools. Over 12 million crowns from the municipality's own budget went towards the construction of the gym.
The architect of the design is Jan Hájek from Atelier M1 Architekti. "We tried to ensure that the building corresponds as closely as possible to the character of the municipality. It is essentially a wooden structure. The placement in the terrain allowed for barrier-free access to both floors. It is a large building in volume, yet it does not compete with the dominant church and, due to the choice of materials, it still appears soft," says design author Jan Hájek.
The exciting part of the whole story of the new gym was not just the construction itself but also the tender process for the contractor for the entire building. In a competition of 10 companies, the construction firm JMA Group s.r.o. won. They first broke ground at the beginning of November last year.
The official opening of Chrupavka will take place on Saturday, November 5, at 10 AM. Following that will be an Open House Day, and at 1 PM, Antonín Panenka and actress Bára Štěpánová are expected to arrive in Líbeznice. A unique tournament, Líbeznice Open, will begin - a small-sided football competition between the Líbeznice team and a lineup composed of renowned Czech architects. Thus, the ceremonial blessing of the gym will also include a completely sporting part. "The abilities of some players from the municipal leadership promise a truly attractive experience," notes the self-critically the mayor of the municipality.
