In Líbeznice near Prague, the construction of a multifunctional gymnasium has begun

Líbeznice (near Prague) - A construction of a multifunctional gymnasium has begun in Líbeznice near Prague. It will serve for physical education, sports clubs, and cultural events. The construction will cost approximately 35 million crowns without equipment; the municipality has received grants from the Ministry of Finance for it. However, ten million crowns must come from the budget. Construction work began just a few days ago and is expected to be completed by next autumn. Líbeznice's mayor, Martin Kupka, stated this today to ČTK.

The gym is being built on the site of the current football changing rooms and will also serve as facilities for football players. Scouts will have a new clubhouse here. "The multifunctional hall will also host events such as balls, sports tournaments, screenings, or concerts," the mayor noted.

The gymnasium will be used by children from the recently expanded elementary school. Its capacity has increased by several hundred students, so it is necessary to expand the capacity for physical education classes as well. This was the main impetus for the construction of the new building. The existing gym is also used by sports clubs and groups, available until late evening hours. They too can then transition to the new facilities.

The operation of the building is expected to be energy-efficient; various technical systems have been limited in the project, and instead of special systems such as air conditioning, the building is designed to ensure natural ventilation inside. It should also fit into the surrounding development. "We do not want the new building to compete in volume with the church. For this reason, we have set it lower to the level of the football field. The second floor will, on the other hand, be accessible without barriers from the street Na Chrupavce," stated architect Jan Hájek. The facade of the gym will be wooden, and the use of wood is planned in other structural elements as well.
