The buildings of the Plzeň Region are the House of Nature and the Center for Construction

Plzeň - The Environmental Center Krsy, the Center for Construction Heritage in Plasy, the House of Nature of the Czech Forest in Klenčí, and the residential extension of the U Zvonu hotel in Plzeň have become the Buildings of the Year for the Plzeň Region 2015. In the 13th edition, 28 buildings competed in six categories, 11 fewer than the previous year. CTK was informed today by the spokesperson for the competition, Martina Kurfirstová.

The Krsy Center won in the new buildings category, the renovation of the farmyard at the Center for Construction Heritage in Plasy among the reconstructions, the extension on the hotel in the residential buildings category, and the House of Nature among sports and leisure projects. "This year, a new category was announced - Buildings for housing for apartment and family houses," said the spokesperson.

The Environmental Center Krsy won the public vote. The professional seven-member jury awarded a special prize to a private car depot in Plzeň and honorable mentions to puppets from the Horažďovice museum, the modification of theater terraces in Plzeň, and the park U Rakováčku in Rokycany.

The mayor praised the reconstruction of the Plzeň southern station into the Culture Station, and the governor highlighted the Paths through the Monastery in Plasy. The professional guarantor, the District Chamber of Commerce Plzeň, recognized as remarkable the administrative building of ZF Engineering in Plzeň, and the Association of Entrepreneurs in Construction acknowledged the above-ground heliport at the university hospital.

"After the crisis from 2009 to 2013 (the construction industry fell by a quarter), we may be bouncing back. Last year, construction in the Czech Republic increased by 5.5 percent, with transport construction up by 7.1 percent. This year could be the same," said Jan Muzika, the regional chairman of the association.

The title of Building of the Year 2014 was awarded last year to the Old Synagogue in Plzeň, the Glass Pavilion in Klatovy, the new communication and Jateční Bridge in Plzeň, and the administrative building of Brusivo in Rokycany.
