Prague – The Railway Administration (SŽ) renovated 73 railway station buildings last year. The work, which included new check-in areas, barrier-free access, or new technical facilities for the stations, cost over two billion crowns. Today, SŽ informed about this. Most of the constructions were completed last year. Specifically, these involve railway station buildings in Milevsko, Havířov, Hanušovice, Protivín, Strakonice, Pačejov, Žihli, Sušice, Kolinec, Nýrsko, Blovice, Horažďovice, Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou-Šanov, Dětřichov nad Bystřicí, Louny, Křižanov, Třebíč, Sklené nad Oslavou, Kadaň, Mnichovo Hradiště, Ivanovice na Hané, Ostrov nad Ohří, Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem, Holice, Šumperk, Kroměříž, Prague-Zahradní město, Lhotka nad Bečvou, Litvínov, Krnov-Cvilín or Skrochovice.
Renovations of several monument-protected station buildings should also be completed soon. "In February, we will finish laying the handmade flooring in the building of the railway station in Hradec Králové, construction work is also nearing completion in the case of the reconstruction of the railway station building in Beroun; we want to have it finished by the summer holidays,” described SŽ General Director Jiří Svoboda.
This year, other renovations are also continuing. By the end of the year, the departure hall in České Budějovice should be renovated; work will also continue in the monument-protected buildings in Plzeň and Pardubice. Builders will also continue the renovation of the interiors of the Fantova building at the main railway station in Prague.
The administration is also preparing to start the reconstruction of the historic dispatch building at the Teplice v Čechách station this year. In the first phase, builders will focus on repairing the facade and the first platform. Passengers will see new facilities in Prague-Radotín, where the construction of a new single-storey building will begin this year. In Vsetín, the current station building will be replaced by a new check-in terminal for train and bus transport, while the station track will also be renovated. A new check-in hall is being created in Prague-Vysočany, which is part of the modernization of the entire station and the adjacent section to Mstětice.
The administration also has railway station buildings in Střelice, Nové Město pod Smrkem, Adamov, Tlumačov, Kdyně, Kostelec u Jihlavy, Rybniště, Hostinné, Blatna near Jesenice, Čejetice, or Podivín ready for construction. More work is also planned in Bohumín, Tachov, Opava-westen, Prachatice, Velim, Veselí nad Lužnicí, Nová Paka, Velvary, Libina, Studénka, Balkova Lhota, or Třinec.
