Tabor - The leadership of the Czech Tourist Club Tabor has decided on the future appearance of the Hýlačka lookout tower. The new viewpoint will replace the original structure, which is over 90 years old and burned down on January 1 last year for reasons still unknown. Three proposals awarded last year in an architectural competition, which took place with the cooperation and financial support of the city of Tabor, were selected, said club chairman Radek Přílepek to ČTK today.
The lookout tower is expected to cost six million crowns, and the club is organizing a public fundraising campaign. The regional office has also promised assistance.
"After several months, we have reached the decision that the competition proposal number 31, which placed third in the architectural competition, will be realized. Its author is David Grygar with a team of collaborators. It is a light steel structure with two supporting columns that will be anchored by six cables. The load-bearing elements of the lookout tower thus resemble the shape of the original Hýlačka," the chairman described. A facility providing ticket sales and restrooms is proposed to be built separately next to the lookout tower.
The main criterion for selection was cost. The building chosen will be the cheapest according to architectural studies. "Even so, the costs for preparation and construction will amount to around six million crowns. After this decision, the project preparation and obtaining all necessary permits can begin," Přílepek stated.
To support the construction of the new lookout tower on Hýlačka hill, the club is organizing a public fundraising campaign. Contributions can be sent to account number 249362410/0300 or donated to collection boxes. The club has thus far raised approximately half a million crowns. The regional office has also promised assistance.
