Ostrava - Tyl's park near the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava is set to be revitalized at nearly nine million crowns excluding VAT. The park will be enhanced with new furniture, walking trails, and greenery. This was announced to journalists today by the spokesperson of the Ostrava City Council, Gabriela Pokorná.

The city has already signed a contract with the selected contractor. The transformation of the park should be completed within 22 weeks from the takeover of the construction site. "As part of the construction, new improvements will be made to the park's paved areas with granite paving stones and a crushed stone surface. Landscaping of lawns and greenery will be carried out, new trees and shrubs will be planted. The park will be equipped with city furniture, namely park benches, stools, and bins for mixed and sorted waste. Visitors will also be pleased by a resting wooden dock in the park. The new public lighting will have a modern design and more economical operation," stated the Deputy Mayor for Investments, Břetislav Riger (Ostravak).

Workers from the company will first remove the asphalt surfaces, which will be replaced by walkways made of new material. The project also includes drainage of rainwater from paved areas and the planting of perennial flower beds or meadow grass. "The existing greenery will be preserved to the maximum extent, with tree removal only expected for dangerous species and the removal of unsightly shrubbery. In total, this concerns 14 trees and 234 square meters of shrubs. Eight linden trees, one maple, one hornbeam, four horse chestnuts, and more than 70 shrubs will be planted," Pokorná added.

During the work, partial traffic restrictions will be necessary on Olbrachtova Street in the section between Nejedlého Street and M. D. Rettigová Street. There will be temporary traffic limitations on the roads around the park during the laying of new curbs and asphalt surfaces.
