Pardubice - Next year, Pardubice will complete an investor competition for the reconstruction of the former Tesla complex on Kyjevská street. The former factory is expected to house shops, services, or apartments, and also provide enough parking spaces. Jan Řehounek (ANO), the deputy mayor, stated this to ČTK.

The area spans 2.5 hectares and is very poorly accessible by transport. It has been abandoned since the late 90s when Tesla went bankrupt. It was briefly owned by Foxconn at the turn of the millennium, and then sold to the county for one crown in 2003.

The regional authority removed environmental burdens and donated the area to the city in 2012. However, it stipulated that the city would build a road to the nearby hospital and parking lots. So far, the city has not found an investor or built any parking spaces. Pardubice originally wanted to close the investor competition by the end of last year.

Both local authorities want the future investor to build 150 parking spaces for hospital visitors and to connect it with transport. There cannot be any healthcare and outpatient services in the area that are already operational in the hospital to avoid competition.

The county has committed to building a parking garage, as 150 spaces will not be sufficient. "The potential investment could return to the county relatively quickly. According to preliminary calculations, costs would be around 90 to 100 million crowns with a return period of five to six years, and there would be 517 parking spaces," said Governor Martin Netolický (ČSSD).

The city has hired Česká spořitelna for the organization of the transaction. Investors who have successfully completed at least one development project worth 300 million crowns excluding VAT in the last five years can participate in the competition. They must also provide significant development references. Bids are to be submitted by the end of January next year.
