Prague – There are currently no plans for the area in the residential district of Dejvice in Prague, where the former expansive Hotel Praha stood, and no construction is being prepared on the site. Tomáš Perman, spokesperson for the Kellner family, which owns the land, informed ČTK. Part of the land is also owned by the PPF investment group, which is owned by Renáta Kellnerová. PPF originally planned an outdoor gallery or the construction of a private school on the site, but according to Perman, this had to be abandoned. It will be ten years on June 7 since the completion of the hotel's demolition, which evoked both negative and positive reactions from the public and experts.

On the parcel, at the site of the former garages of Hotel Praha, the PPF group originally wanted to build the Open Gate II school. According to Perman, this project had to be abandoned due to the failure to obtain the necessary permits for construction. Later, the Kellner family foundation announced that an outdoor gallery would be located on part of the land of the former hotel instead of a primary school and an eight-year gymnasium.

However, Perman did not want to comment on its establishment. "There is nothing newer than the intention for that school, which had to be abandoned," he said. He added that there is currently no specific intention for the land, and nothing is planned to be built on it.

On Friday, June 7, it will be ten years since the completion of the demolition of Hotel Praha. The boldly conceived building was constructed for the needs of the Communist Party and the Czechoslovak government from 1975 to 1981. The hotel was used, for example, for accommodating foreign delegations, and after the regime change, it changed owners and was eventually acquired by the PPF group of Petr Kellner, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in Alaska about three years ago. The current owner is his wife, Renáta Kellnerová. The firm bought the building in 2013 from the Cypriot company Maraflex.

The opulently designed hotel was demolished by PPF mainly due to its unprofitability. It contained, in addition to conference halls and a restaurant, 136 large rooms and a 400-square-meter presidential suite, and its demolition had its opponents. Some architects considered the hotel to be a unique construction, while others argued that it was average architecture. PPF claimed that the building was oversized and uneconomical.

The parcel of the former Hotel Praha borders on the Hadovka summer residence, which is also owned by PPF. In 2018, the group opened a clinic in part of the historical building.
