Karlovy Vary - The dismantling of the Vřídlo technology has begun in Karlovy Vary. The work is taking place largely underground in the Vřídlo colonnade. Next to it, a reserve tank has already appeared, which will temporarily serve as a backup in case of an unexpected failure, described councilor Pavel Bouška (Karlovaráci).
"The technology is being dismantled in the underground beneath the jet hall. This means that pipes are being cut and hangers and fittings are being removed. Only part of the separators is operational, which means removing gas from the water. The area is being secured so that a crypt can be created, which means a protective shell over the entire technology," Bouška described the current state of repairs.
The stainless steel tank, which is already standing next to the Vřídlo colonnade, will eventually be placed underground. Until then, it will serve as a reserve, capable of taking over the supply of thermal spring water to the spa houses within a few hours in case of a malfunction during the technology dismantling. A large part of the spa services in Karlovy Vary depends on it.
The Vřídlo colonnade, and especially the technology for capturing and processing thermal spring water underground, is in a state of emergency. The technology and equipment for controlled pumping of hot mineral water is, however, the most valuable aspect of the Vřídlo colonnade. Only after the technology is repaired will it be possible to proceed with the repair of the dome above the original Vřídlo jet. This is currently gushing above the concrete basin outside the colonnade building.
If no unforeseen circumstances arise, according to Bouška, the Vřídlo colonnade could be repaired in about a year. At least that is currently the plan of the working group dealing with the repairs.
