Karlovy Vary – Karlovy Vary are preparing the next phase of the reconstruction of the Vřídelní Colonnade. After repairing the emergency parts of the building and mainly the technology for collecting and processing spring water, the next phase should mainly concern the repairs of the main building of the Vřídelní Colonnade. The work is expected to begin in May, said the Deputy Mayor of Karlovy Vary, Petr Bursík (ODS), to ČTK.
"As part of completing the first phase, which we call the removal of the emergency status, there has been a final accounting. The construction work cost 22 million, and the work related to the spring technology amounted to 24 million crowns. During the first phase, there were savings on the part of the Administration of Natural Healing Resources and Colonnades of about 7.5 million crowns," said Bursík.
The city also received a non-investment grant from the Ministry of Regional Development in the amount of 28 million crowns for the repair of the Mlýnská Colonnade, part of which it would like to use for the second phase of repairs of the Vřídelní Colonnade. This phase primarily involves removing the emergency status of the spring hall. At the same time, project documentation for the rehabilitation of the ceiling in the spring hall has been prepared in areas where the drinking fountains, which are now removed, used to be.
"The second phase primarily concerns the glass wall, the floor, the external and internal walls, the lighting of the space, and also the replacement of the octagonal pyramid on the top of the colonnade. In addition, a temporary plate with the spring jet that is currently in front of the colonnade should also be removed," said Bursík. Project documentation has already been prepared for everything. The city had to address copyright issues during the preparation of the construction because some parts of the building are works of art.
According to Bursík, a tender for the contractor is being prepared, and work is expected to begin in mid-May of this year. The Vřídelní Colonnade will continue to operate in a limited capacity, just as it is now.
