Liberec - The reconstruction of the former Linser foundry into a creative center has begun in Liberec for 40.3 million crowns. The construction site was taken over today by the company Instav, which won the contract. This was reported by the city hall spokesperson Jana Kodymová in a press release. To rescue the dilapidated Art Nouveau building in the lower center and transform it into a creative center, Liberec will utilize a grant of 31 million crowns from the National Recovery Plan.
"We believe that the center will become a place for the development and support of many different creative fields. It will begin serving the public in about a year," added the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Development and Grants, Šárka Prachařová (ANO).
The former foundry on Resslova Street is the last remnant of the factory complex established in 1858 by Christian Linser. Today, it is a dilapidated building used only occasionally. The city building is set for a complete renovation, with the city's ambition to restore its original atmosphere as an industrial building of the former factory.
"In the three-storey building, connected by a three-armed staircase and an elevator, creative studios, workshops, and galleries will be created on the first and second floors. The ground floor will also include a café," Kodymová stated. The adjacent park will also serve the public, hosting cultural and educational events.
