Benešov - In the empty villa Katuška in Benešov, which previously housed a primary and practical school, a museum could be established. The use of the building for tourism was proposed by people at a recent public forum organized by the city hall. Among the key priorities, they included the reconstruction of Husova Street, the use of the former Táborské barracks, and the renovation of the Pošta hotel. The city hall management has included the proposals in the strategic development plan for the city, said Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Zahradníček (Choice for Benešov) to ČTK.

The primary and practical school moved this year from Katuška to new premises on Hodějovská Street. Students now have a more suitable environment for education in the new building, which the city acquired from the Ministry of Agriculture. What will happen next with the empty villa has not yet been determined by the city.

According to Zahradníček, a museum should be established in Katuška. "There used to be an interrogation room of the Gestapo there, so there could be, for example, an exhibition dedicated to the period of the Second World War," the deputy mayor stated. "But there are more plans; we will still address this," he added.

The building on Konopišťská Street, built in 1894, was named after the wife of one of the owners, Kateřina Kuželová. It was renovated in 1981, and an extension was built in the garden; since then, the complex has served a special school.

Among the city's priorities, people at the meeting with the management of Benešov also included transportation safety outside schools, investment in a scout clubhouse, and the construction of a multipurpose hall. However, according to Zahradníček, the construction of such a facility would be a very challenging investment.
