The Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic invite you to the parallel event of the European Habitat V4 Forum on the Future of Housing Estates. The event will take place on March 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM in the southern hall of the congress center in Prague.
Panel housing estates represent specific areas of cities not only in the Czech Republic but also throughout the Central European region. What should be the long-term vision for these areas? How should we conceptually engage with them, and how can we initiate the process of their transformation into functioning and attractive parts of the urban structure?
Representatives from the Visegrad Four countries and Germany, who have been professionally addressing the issue of housing estates for a long time, will present their experiences with the development of these areas. David Tichý and Filip Tittl from the project Housing Estates: What Next? will represent the Czech Republic, while Ľubica Vitková, the dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, will attend the event on behalf of Slovakia. Poland will be represented by Professor Anna Kantarek from the Krakow University of Technology, and Hungary by Árpád Szabó from the University of Budapest. Professor Maren Harnack from the University of Frankfurt will present experiences with the development of housing estates and the assessment of implemented strategies in former East Germany.
The event will also include the launch of the publication “Housing Estates: What Next?”, which summarizes the findings of the eponymous project focused on finding long-term strategies for the development of these locations.
Entrance to the event is free; you only need to register on these pages: www.europeanhabitat.com.
