Velké Losiny (Šumperk) - In Velké Losiny Spa in Šumperk, the long-awaited thermal park opened on Saturday. Construction began in the spa at the end of 2013, and the opening was delayed by several months due to technical difficulties. The construction, including the interior fittings, cost approximately 200 million crowns. Currently, the indoor area with four pools is operational, while visitors will find five additional pools outside. The outdoor area is expected to open later this September, said David Křepský, the sales manager of Royal Spa, which operates the spa. "Visitors have access to four pools, one of which is fed with thermal water directly from the spring. The other three pools also contain thermal water, but chemically treated. The indoor section is now open, while work is still ongoing on the outdoor section. If the weather is favorable, I think we could test the outdoor section at the beginning of September," stated David Křepský. The thermal park had its soft opening during a testing phase in the previous days, and today its operations officially commenced. The long-anticipated opening of the thermal park immediately attracted significant interest from visitors. According to Křepský, during the testing phase, the indoor area with a capacity of 330 people was filled to about 80 percent, and today the capacity is around 65 percent, despite changes in stay arrangements. "So far, we are satisfied; there were initial problems with the chips, but I think everything works well now," added Křepský. The opening of the thermal park was delayed mainly due to complex technology. "The technology was very demanding; it is a unique project with no equivalent in the Czech Republic. The thermal water heats the entire building, making it cost-effective. Additionally, the thermal park is located on the site of an old swimming pool, where there was no solid foundation; geological surveys had to be conducted, and piling for the building was necessary," the sales manager added. The pools, with water temperatures around 33 degrees Celsius, are filled with water from the Žerotín thermal mineral medicinal spring. The thermal sulfur water from Velké Losiny has therapeutic effects on the locomotor system and skin diseases, such as various eczema or psoriasis. The new pools differ in water temperatures and focus on relaxation and activity. The area is equipped with several saunas, a space for providing massages, facilities for parents with children, and a restaurant. In terms of size and focus, the Losiny project can be compared by its creators to the famous Austrian resorts Laa an der Thaya and Gmünd. The Velké Losiny Spa is part of the Royal Spa network of spa and wellness hotels, which also includes spa complexes in Luhačovice, Mariánské Lázně, Ostrožská Nová Ves, and a wellness hotel in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
