"A unique thermal park covering 6000 m2, unmatched in the Czech Republic."
Velké Losiny (Šumperk) - The spa company Royal Spa is investing 130 million crowns in the construction of a large thermal park in the Velké Losiny spa in the Šumperk region. Part of the costs will be covered by a grant from the Regional Operational Program of Central Moravia, amounting to 22 million crowns. Visitors should first be able to swim in the six pools filled with healing mineral water, whose construction began today in Velké Losiny, in the summer of 2014. "Three outdoor and three indoor pools, along with a children's wading pool, will be filled exclusively with water from our thermal mineral healing spring Žerotín. It has been proven that the thermal sulfur water from Velké Losiny has therapeutic effects on the musculoskeletal system and on skin diseases, such as various eczema or even psoriasis," said Martin Plachý, the director of the Royal Spa company and the executive of the Velké Losiny spa, to reporters today. The thermal park will be created on the site of the current swimming pool in the spa area, which is only operational for four months a year. The total area of the built-up site will be 2576 square meters, with the water surfaces occupying 1495 square meters. According to Plachý, the size and focus of the Losiny project can be compared to the famous Austrian resorts of Laa an der Thaya and Gmünd. The new pools will differ in water temperatures and focus on relaxation and active use. The area will be equipped with several saunas, a space for providing massages, facilities for parents with children, a restaurant, fast summer refreshments, and five daily apartments. The thermal park can accommodate 1000 to 1300 people. "I am pleased that a similar thermal park, like those we are used to in Austria and Hungary, will be built in the Olomouc Region. The new facility can significantly enhance the tourism offerings in the Šumperk area," stated the governor Jiří Rozbořil (ČSSD). The sulfur thermal water in Velké Losiny is among the highest quality in the Czech Republic and contributes to relaxation, relief, and strengthening muscles while swimming. It also improves joint flexibility, alleviates muscle cramps, and regulates thermoregulation. The effect is enhanced by the water temperature of around 36 degrees Celsius. The Velké Losiny spa belongs to the network of spa and wellness hotels Royal Spa, which also includes spa complexes in Luhačovice, Mariánské Lázně, Ostrožská Nová Ves, and a wellness hotel in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. In Velké Losiny, the company has invested over 120 million crowns in the last four years. In addition to the Šárka sanatorium, it has renovated the Gazárka villa, the Eliška spa hotel, and the Diana wellness hotel.
