Brno - The leadership of Brno continues to negotiate with Czech Post regarding the purchase of the building on Orlí Street, which is to become the headquarters of the central building authority. The negotiations are correct and flexible, said councilor for property Jiří Oliva (SOCDEM) to reporters. The office should operate in the building alongside the post office, whose services returned there today after several months.
Czech Post ended operations at the branch in the Velký Špalíček shopping center at the end of January due to capacity and is instead opening three counters on Orlí. The branch was closed last year in connection with the closure of other locations across the country. Despite the return of postal services to Orlí Street, Czech Post is still counting on the sale of the building. The city is particularly interested, having decided last December to merge building authorities from various city districts into one.
"We have an expert appraisal, so we know the value of the building. However, since the negotiations are not concluded, I do not want to comment on it to avoid jeopardizing the success of the entire transaction. Czech Post, however, communicates very flexibly," said Oliva.
Approximately from April, the city would temporarily be renting the building to prepare the new building authority. "By July 1, we need to start full operations, so we have about three months for preparation to organize the facilities for the 200 people who will work at the new office," the councilor added.
