Brno – On the first day of operation of the new central building authority in Brno and the launch of the digital building management system, Brno officials recorded 18 submissions. Five applicants visited the office in person. Despite initial complications with logging into the system, the first day was calm, said Filip Poňuchálek, spokesperson for the Brno City Hall, today to ČTK. The unification of building authorities from the city districts into one also affected the regional office, which has become the appeal body for Brno.
The central office opened on Monday at Orlí Street in Brno, the same day the new building law and its associated digitization of building management came into effect. In the morning, officials were unable to log into the building management information system, which they attributed to it being overloaded. "Since yesterday afternoon (Monday), the system has been running. About 40 citizens personally visited the office, and we recorded approximately 100 phone calls from applicants. The first day was calm; employees began working on tasks brought over from the city districts, initial meetings were held, and the functioning of the office was being fine-tuned," Poňuchálek stated.
The building authority has 150 functional positions. All managerial and administrative positions are fully occupied. Other positions, such as building inspectors or technicians, are 80 percent filled.
As of January 1st, in light of the unification of Brno's offices, a regional building authority department was established. A total of 75 people will work there. "As of July 1st, there are 28 filled positions. We are negotiating with other applicants about starting employment at further dates, and we are repeatedly announcing selection procedures," stated Martina Žídková on behalf of the regional office. The region also had to find new premises, and since Monday, the regional building authority has been operating at Triniti Office Center on Trnitá Street. Monthly costs for renting office space are around half a million crowns.
