Prague - The leadership of Prague 5 will completely renovate Chaplin Square in Barrandov. The work on the restoration of the park and pathways is expected to cost a total of 18.6 million korunas. The city council has already decided to apply for a grant from European funds. If Prague 5 receives the EU funds, work could begin as early as this year. "The main aim of the project is to improve the living environment of our residents by creating a modern zone for relaxation and recreation," said the mayor of Prague 5, Radek Klíma (TOP 09). The paths, paved areas, and parking spots are set to be repaired. New greenery will be planted, new resting areas will be created, and benches or trash bins will also be replaced. "For example, elevated beds will visually connect to the paths leading to individual entrances, which will help improve the organization of the zone," the mayor described. To improve visibility, the existing 30-centimeter high iron barriers will be removed. The reconstruction is estimated to cost around 18.62 million korunas. Of this, the municipality should pay just under 1.4 million, while the remainder will be sought as grants from European funds.
