PRAGUE - Vrchlického Sady in front of the main train station in Prague 1 is set to transform into a walking promenade in three years. According to plans, an English park is to be created there, featuring lawns, flower beds, trees, and pathways, said the deputy mayor Jana Příhodová (ODS) to journalists today.
The gardens are currently not in good condition. They are particularly known for serving as a refuge for the homeless. The town hall will collaborate with the company Grandi Stazioni on the park's restoration, which is preparing to renovate the station.
According to reports, it was previously deemed inappropriate to modify the park while waiting for the station's repair. "It's not possible to have a beautiful park and an unsightly train station, which is why the project for the park's restoration was delayed," stated the mayor Vladimír Vihan (ODS).
The Prague 1 council has now approved a cooperation agreement with Grandi Stazioni. Among other tasks, the company is to develop a project for the park's modifications, which will be dedicated to the city district.
