Zlín - The Vsetín town hall will display urban studies of certain parts of the city, which were created by students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology at the request of municipal councilors. Their work was led by internationally recognized urbanism expert, architect Petr Hurník. The exhibition will begin in the exhibition hall of the office on March 1 and will last until March 23. It will also include a survey where people can express their opinions on the individual studies, the city spokesperson Eva Stejskalová informed ČTK today. The areas of interest for the young architects included the entire city center, specifically Freedom Square in relation to the space in front of the town hall, Svárov Street and Hlásenka, as well as the banks of the Bečva River and the Upper Square. These are the parts of the city that the town hall aims to reconstruct in the near future. "We are working with the authors on the revitalization of the city. Vsetín lacks smaller houses and narrow alleys that used to be here, and as a result, the city misses a human scale. We strive to bring back the feeling, comfort, and spontaneity to the shape of the towns," said Hurník. The studies are also based on the real needs of the city, which means the lack of housing, spaces for business, or leisure activities. The proposals have already been introduced to Vsetín municipal councilors, and in April they will be presented directly in the relevant areas of the city. The authors of the proposals will gather citizens' opinions directly in the streets, and the data collected will then be possibly incorporated into their studies. "The city is thus trying to gather as much information as possible for its subsequent decision-making regarding the future appearance of the mentioned spaces," added Petr Kozel, the manager of the Local Agenda 21 project. Within its framework, architectural proposals are being implemented. The studies will also serve as initial documents for processing applications for grants from European funds.
