Vyškov - This year, Vyškov will start renovating the castle garden, with water and play elements, lawns, and flower beds with perennials being added. The costs will amount to tens of millions of crowns. The city leadership informed about this on its website today.

The city council approved the investment plan. It was based on a study and project documentation developed by the Atelier Krejčiříkovi from Valtice. "The public responded very positively to the published visualizations. The area has exhausted its potential since the last reconstruction. It needs shady corners, modern elements, and a new impulse. We want to offer the residents of Vyškov and visitors a reason to visit the castle with their entire family," emphasized the deputy mayor of Vyškov, Roman Celý (KDU-ČSL).

According to him, the city did not want to take a loan for this investment project. "At the same time, when creating the budget for this year, we did not know how last year's budget would turn out and what kind of surplus we would end up with. In the end, it performed very well economically. Therefore, we decided to use the positive result to strengthen investment activities for 2025 precisely through the reconstruction of the garden, which has remained, let's say, below the line and does not appear in the current budget. However, it has been a long-discussed project,” stated Celý.

The space will offer benches, shady spots, water and play elements, new trees, and flower beds. However, in order for the refurbishment to take place on the planned scale, it will be preceded by tree felling. Thus, non-prospective trees that can no longer grow in the garden will disappear. The main work is expected to begin likely in early summer, and due to its scope will extend into 2026.
