Interest in the reconstruction of the Hradec Museum is shown by two companies

Hradec Králové - Two companies have expressed interest in the renovation of the East Bohemian Museum in Hradec Králové. The estimated costs for the renovation of the Art Nouveau building on Eliška's waterfront are 73 million crowns, and it should be completed by mid-2019. Petr Vinklář, the spokesman for the magistrate, told ČTK.

"Two bids were received within the submission deadline. The bid opening committee reviewed them and found no reason not to evaluate and assess them. Until the evaluation and assessment of the bids is completed, we cannot provide information about the prices and participants," Vinklář stated.

Although the relocation of collections has already begun, the museum is still in operation. It is open daily except Mondays from 09:00 to 17:00. People will be able to visit exhibitions at the museum until Sunday, November 5. After that, visitors will only be able to enter the building for a Sunday children's program and from December 1 to 3, when the museum opens for the traditional Museum Advent Market. "Afterward, the museum building will be permanently closed for more than a year due to a planned reconstruction," said Jaroslav Zámečník from the museum.

New exhibition spaces will be created in the building, part of which will be newly managed directly by the city. From the terrace at the dome on the roof, there will be a view of part of the city center along the Elbe waterfront. The renovation of the museum building should then be followed by the restoration of the adjacent park behind the building on Kotěrova Street.

The museum building was created according to the design of architect Jan Kotěra from 1909 to 1912 and is one of the most significant buildings in Hradec Králové. In 1995, the museum was declared a national cultural monument.

The East Bohemian Museum is established by the Hradec Králové Region and the city of Hradec Králové is the investor of the renovation.
