Bauer's lodge at the Brno exhibition center (workshop)

A two-day symposium in honor of the Brno native and world architect, whose birth anniversary is celebrated this year with 150 years, will include a conference and a workshop. The conference will feature prominent domestic and foreign scholars recalling the life and work of this humanist and architect, as well as the Czech traces of Loos's students and followers. The second day of the symposium will be more practical - there will be a presentation of examples of the restoration of Loos's interiors in Plzeň and Prague with the participation of creators. Together with representatives of the Brno fair and exhibition and the Magistrate of the City of Brno, there will be a discussion on the possibilities of restoration directly in the Loos hall of Bauer's lodge.

Possibilities of solving the heritage restoration of the so-called Loos Hall in Bauer's Lodge in Brno
The expert workshop should outline potential opportunities for heritage restoration and use of Bauer's Lodge in Brno, whose interiors were designed by Adolf Loos for Viktor Bauer. The best-preserved part is the dining room, which could thus become a representative space reminding of the personality and work of Adolf Loos in Brno. The uniqueness of the space is multiplied by the fact that it is the only preserved and partially publicly accessible work in Brno at all. The aim of the workshop is to encourage professional discussion leading to permanent and sustainable possibilities for the use of the hall and the entire building, and subsequently to the method of heritage restoration of the interior. This will be based on examples of various approaches of both good and poor practices of restoration and presentation of Loos's work in the Czech lands.
The following contributors are in negotiation: David Cysař (Winternitz Villa), Lenka Štěpánková (BVV), Jindřich Chatrný and Dagmar Černoušková (Museum of the City of Brno), David Voda and Michal Sborwitz (Müller Villa in Olomouc), Marie Szadkowska (Müller Villa in Prague), Karel Zoch and Ludvík Grym (restoration of Loos's interiors in Plzeň, Bendova 10 and Klatovská 19 project), Rostislav Koryčánek (curator of the Hofmann House in Brtnice), Iveta Černá (director of the Tugendhat Villa), Martin Zedníček (OPP Magistrate of the City of Brno), Aleš Kozák (ProPamátky).
