On Wednesday, June 15, 2016, the spring series of Dialogues on Architecture in the café of the creative zone DEPO2015 will conclude with the last lecture and discussion. As usual, at 6:30 PM, architects Tomáš Král from architectureMADE and Vladimír Mašinský from HB Reavis will present. The discussion will focus on creation both domestically and abroad, different approaches, and the diverse experiences and life paths of both guests.
First, architect Tomáš Král, a graduate of the FA ČVUT in Prague from 2009, will share his story, experiences, and realizations. After graduation, Tomáš spent a year with his girlfriend and architect Irena Šebová in a burgeoning corporate office in a 200-meter skyscraper in Mexico City. They were enchanted by life in a big city where anything is possible. This was followed by a cycle of finding and losing work. Tomáš and Irena moved to Geneva for nearly three years and discovered firsthand that there are many fewer possibilities in Switzerland. However, for the first time in their lives, they were able to earn a living through architecture. Although Tomáš Král has considerable experience working in the Czech Republic (recently, he was recognized for the project of theater terraces, which received an honorable mention in the category of new buildings in the 2015 Building of the Year competition for the Plzeň Region), he finds it harder to work here than abroad, feeling many more obstacles in a familiar environment. Currently, he is trying to work as an investor-architect-builder on a small scale.
Architect Vladimír Mašinský, a graduate of the FA ČVUT in Prague and the prestigious Technische Universiteit Delft in the Netherlands, has worked as an architect among other places in the London studio Populous and as a specialist in the phenomenon of so-called smart cities at Entiq. He is also the author of the project for the roofing of the Olympic Stadium in London and the design for a new façade for the Spartak Moscow football stadium. Currently, he works as the Head of Innovations at the development company HB Reavis. In his contribution, he will present, beyond his professional journey, visions for the development of architecture and construction in the context of the expansion of digital technologies and urban development. Digital technologies, the value of data, and new players in the construction market, primarily growing in India, China, the Arab world, and the USA, are already defining new trends. According to Vladimír Mašinský, BIM (Building Information Modeling) will prevail in the architecture process from model design to realization. Based on personal experiences and completed projects, Vladimír emphasizes thinking about buildings in broader dimensions, so that a building is not perceived as an isolated element, but as part of a larger whole.
Entry to the event is 40 CZK.
