Modern historical city – Litomyšl. This is not a contradiction, but the motto of the city of Litomyšl! And indeed, a city with a rich preserved historical memory does not shy away from contemporary architectural interventions. Perhaps precisely because of this. Because it has a strong identity. And the city is thriving. Not only is it an attraction for tourists, but it is also a great place to live! Historical architecture reminds us of how our ancestors lived, while the modern responds to our current demands and leaves a mark and testimony of our time for our descendants. Zdeňka Vydrová has been serving as the city architect of Litomyšl since 1991 and is one of the key figures responsible for the city's success as one of the centers of contemporary Czech architecture. Her work was recognized last year with the Ministry of Culture Award and winning the Architect of the Municipality competition. And we can look forward to her lecture on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 6:00 PM at the Gallery U Bílého jednorožce in Klatovy as part of the Dialogues with History series.
