They do not copy patterns, they find a unique view, innovate... Join us in exploring architecture from elsewhere! We invite you to a new series of lectures on architecture, this time on the theme Another Perspective. In the first lecture of 2017, Jonathan Sergison (GB) will present on the topic Reflections on the Contemporary European City.

British architect Jonathan Sergison will come to Prague to discuss the necessity of adapting architecture to changing housing needs. Many of us spend most of our lives in cities. Housing represents the largest portion (about 70%) of urban development. The need to meet changing demands for housing and satisfy the growing population is a problem that European cities address in various ways. What are the possible strategies for dealing with the current and future needs of modern European cities? This will be the main topic of the first lecture of 2017, which is based on the latest work from the Sergison Bates studio.

Jonathan Sergison, along with Stephen Bates, is a founding partner of the significant architectural firm Sergison Bates architects, which has received 22 awards for projects in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Austria since its founding. Their projects encompass all levels of architecture and urbanism. The studio primarily focuses on residential construction and emphasizes simplicity, detail, context, and the functionality of buildings that stem from the needs of their inhabitants. Jonathan Sergison also engages with the theoretical aspect of architecture. Before establishing his own architectural practice, he worked for architect David Chipperfield, among others. He has taught and lectured at several universities and is currently a professor at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio (CH).

Admission is 100 CZK / students and seniors 80 CZK
