The lecture and discussion series Isn't the West Blowing? Plzeň Architects Inviting, which highlights and reflects on contemporary architecture in Plzeň and beyond, continues with its third installment on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 6 PM in the creative zone DEPO2015. The invitation from Tereza Nová and Jiří Zábrana of the Pro-story studio has been accepted by architect Svatopluk Sládeček, founder of the Brno studio NEW WORK. In his presentation, Svatopluk Sládeček, known among other things for his concept of figurative architecture, will focus primarily on his projects in the regions. The various buildings of different purposes and scales are connected by the author's observation of an authentic creative path and his effort to find distinctive, unconventional, and appropriately corresponding architectural forms. Svatopluk Sládeček will then address the reflection of contemporary regional architecture and the Czech scene in general in a debate with Jiří Zábrana. The event will comply with the valid health regulations. Admission is 50 CZK. Tickets will be available on-site and in advance at www.plzenskavstupenka.cz. The next installment of the series Isn't the West Blowing? Plzeň Architects Inviting, prepared with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the city of Plzeň, the State Fund for Culture, and the Czech Architecture Foundation, will take place on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at 6 PM in the creative zone DEPO2015. The invitation to perform in Plzeň from Jiří Zábrana and Tereza Nová of the studio Pro-story has been accepted by architect Svatopluk Sládeček, founder of the Brno studio New Work. Svatopluk Sládeček studied architecture at the Prague UMPRUM from 1988 to 1994. In 1995 he co-founded the New Work studio, which he still leads today. He gained public attention for his concept of so-called figurative architecture, which he comprehensively presented at the exhibition Figurative Architecture for Beginners in the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín at the turn of 2004 and 2005, and subsequently in several reprises abroad. In 2016 and 2017, under the care of Rostislav Koryčánek, he exhibited alongside David Kraus at the House of Art in Brno and again at the regional gallery in Zlín. Since 2016, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Architecture at VUT in Brno. He has repeatedly succeeded in the Grand Prix of the Architects' Association competition and has been nominated several times for the Award of the Club for Old Prague. In 2018, he received a nomination for the Czech Architecture Award for his construction of a cabin in Zadní Telnice. He is a member of the Czech Chamber of Architects.
