The fourth, anniversary, PechaKucha Night Ostrava was a success in every respect. The evening, where personalities from the visual arts present their work, ideas, and insights, brought life to the spaces of the House of Art in Ostrava last Saturday night. The unconventional event attracted over 600 spectators and featured names such as Jan Čapek and Petr Kvíčala.

“Hats off, a wonderfully organized event. I had a great time and will definitely come again. Such an event was really missing in Ostrava!” describes his feelings Jiří Klega, a legal trainee and one of the participants of Saturday night. “From our side, it was a dignified conclusion to the first year of the PechaKucha Night project in Ostrava. Our intention is to inspire, enthuse, present creative creators, and last but not least, create new connections between fields and people. I hope we succeeded in that on Saturday.” Martin Lindovský conveys the impressions of the organizers.
The presentations in the 20x20 format (20 slides, each running for exactly 20 seconds – each presentation thus lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds) showcased a diverse range of artists – from one of the most significant contemporary visual artists Petr Kvíčala, who recently opened an exhibition in Prague's DOX, to young creators of original, often very controversial accessories under the brand Minimon - Petra Cihlářová and Monika Lysá, to industrial designer Jan Čapek, whose works, plastic bottles of Mattoni and Aquila mineral waters, or pint glasses of beer brands Radegast and Kozel, most of us hold in our hands practically every day. The success of the event is also reflected in the afterparty, which lasted until the morning hours and where participants had the opportunity to discuss various topics with the presenters and organizers.
PechaKucha Night has already taken place in Ostrava for the fourth time, with the venue changing each time. The first evening of architecture, design, and related fields took place in August of last year at Provoz Hlubina, which is part of the Lower Vítkovice complex. The project originated in Japan and has gained a large number of fans in Ostrava, as evidenced by the attendance of individual events, with free tickets disappearing within hours.

The next PechaKucha Night will take place in Ostrava in the fall. For more information, photographs, and recordings of the presentations, visit the official Facebook page of the project or the website.
