On January 29, 2014, at 6:00 PM, Radovan Lipus will give a lecture at the Fiducia antiquarian bookshop and club in Ostrava, where he, together with David Vávra and the Czech Television team, tracked down the legacy of creators from the Czech lands in Argentina for more than a month in the fall of 2013.
Before you can familiarize yourself with the results of their investigation in the form of 5 new episodes of the series Šumné stopy, we invite you to a lecture by director and screenwriter Radovan Lipus, enriched with numerous photographs from this distant and exotic country.
You will become acquainted not only with remarkable buildings left in Argentina by architects and builders with roots in the Czech lands, such as Juan Kraus, Francisco Ctibor, Carlos Navrátil, Juan Nepomucenus Švagr, or the still-living Estanislao Kocourek, but you will also get to know a piece of the eighth largest country in the world, from the Atlantic coast in the resort of Mar del Plata through the skyscrapers in Buenos Aires to the extinct Jesuit missions or villages of the Guaraní Indian tribe near the magnificent Iguazú Falls.
Starting from 4:00 PM, there will be a book signing event with Radovan Lipus at the House of Books – Knihcentrum (formerly Librex), where he will sign his book O smutné továrně. In 2013, it was published by Meander, with illustrations and collages by Veronika Podzimková and David Vávra. This publication won the Most Beautiful Children's Book award at the autumn book fair.
