Mgr. Filip Šenk, Ph.D. Art historian, critic, publicist, educator. He studied art and philosophy at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno. His scientific work focuses primarily on architecture and art of the 20th and 21st centuries. He teaches the history of art and architecture at the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Technical University in Liberec, at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia, and at FAMU in Prague. He publishes articles on architecture in the magazine Art+Antique and is also engaged in curatorial activities.
prof. PhDr. Ivan Blecha, CSc. Philosopher and historian, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, he works at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University in Olomouc and teaches philosophy externally at the Faculty of Economics and Management of VUT Brno located in Zlín; he defended his candidate thesis at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno. He is a member of the editorial series Orbis phaenomenologicus at Alber Verlag in Freiburg i. Br. He engages in critical interpretation of Husserl's phenomenology and its further development, especially in Heidegger, Fink, and Patočka. He attempts to confront phenomenology with traditional modern philosophy (especially with Kant) and with classical metaphysics. In addition, he seeks a view of phenomenology as a whole (Phenomenology and Existentialism, 1994) or an overall interpretation of the philosophical development of its representatives (monographs on Husserl and Patočka, studies on Fink).
prof. PhDr. Petr Kratochvíl, CSc. Historian and theorist of architecture, publicist, university educator. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague, and his professional interest focuses on contemporary domestic and world architectural and urban creation. He currently works as a research worker at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences and also as a lecturer at the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Technical University in Liberec, where he teaches the history of modern architecture.
prof. Ing. arch. Ladislav Lábus, Hon. FAIA Architect and educator active since 1990 at the Faculty of Architecture ČVUT in Prague, head of the Lábus–Šrámek studio, head of the Institute for Design III, dean of the Faculty of Architecture ČVUT in Prague. After graduating in architecture from ČVUT, he worked at the Project Institute of HMP, and in 1991 he founded the studio Lábus AA. He focuses on designing civil and residential buildings, interiors, and urban planning. He is known for his sensitive approach to designing buildings in historical contexts and renovations, as well as his work in the field of housing and senior living, and his contributions to transforming the social care system and revitalizing housing estates and panel buildings. He received an award from the Ministry of Culture for architecture. In addition to many realizations, he is the author of the reconstruction of the Langhans Palace in Vodičkova Street in Prague, for which he received the Grand Prix from the Union of Architects in 2003. He is also the author of the reconstruction of Edison transforming stations in Prague and is behind the reconstruction of the Riding Hall of Prague Castle, as well as the project of new villas in Hanspaulka, among others.
doc. Ing. arch. Pavla Melková, Ph.D. Architect and theorist of architecture, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture ČVUT in Prague and also completed doctoral studies in urban planning and spatial planning there. She completed a Fulbright Scholarship at GSAPP Columbia University in New York under Kenneth Frampton. She is a licensed architect and a member of the Czech Chamber of Architects. She was nominated for the Architect of the Year 2014 award and received several awards including the Grand Prix of Architecture 2012, the Mayor of Prague award in 2012, a nomination for the Old Prague Club award in 2012, the first prize in the East Centric Arhitext Awards competition 2013, and a nomination for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2013. She is a partner in the MCA studio, is also involved in the fine arts, and engages in theoretical, lecturing, and publishing activities or organizing exhibitions. She teaches at the Faculty of Architecture ČVUT, the Faculty of Civil Engineering ČVUT, the Faculty of Transport ČVUT, and at VŠUP. In 2012, she founded the Office of Public Space at the Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague (IPR). She is currently a member of the Director's Collegium of IPR, vice-chair of the Gremial Council of IPR, and head of the Specialist Educational Program of IPR. In 2015, she established the subject of concept and interpretation at the Faculty of Architecture, where she is a research and teaching staff member, which she leads.
Prof. PhDr. PaedDr. Jindřich Vybíral, CSc. Art historian, publicist, educator. He studied Czech studies, history, and art history at universities in Ostrava, Brno, and London, and is a member of the scientific councils of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the National Heritage Institute, and Ostrava University. He specializes in the history of architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries and has published dozens of professional publications on this subject, the most notable being an extensive monograph on the work of architect Leopold Bauer. He is currently the rector of UMPRUM, where he also lectures at the Department of Art History and Theory.
